Charming Host? Christopher To The Rescue!
Many a cappella fans know Christopher Diaz from the weekly podcast, Mouth-Off, which he hosts with Dave Brown. We know him as a talented, charming guy who will make VoCALnation an even more enjoyable event! Here’s a bit about this dapper gent…
Christopher, a graduate of the Florida State University, spent three years as the music director of FSU’s mixed All-Night Yahtzee. During that time, he led the group to three consecutive appearances at the ICCA Finals as the South Region Champions, culminating in numerous solo, arranging and choreography awards and a second place finish at the 2008 International Finals. While directing Yahtzee, he co-produced two albums, Minor Adjustments (which won an AcaTunes award in 2007) and 17, for which he was nominated for the Best Mixed Collegiate Arrangement CARA in 2008. While at Florida State, Christopher also served as the president of the FSU University Singers and vice president of the Student Opera Organization, and performed in dozens of FSU, regional and community opera and theatre productions.
In 2008, Christopher began working with the Alliance for A Cappella Initiatives as the Scholastic Coordinator and has served as Competition Coordinator, clinician, coach and producer for the SoJam A Cappella Festival since 2008. He joined CASA as a Board Member in 2009 and is now Volunteer Coordinator for the organization. He co-founded Mouth Off!, the 2010 ACA award-winning weekly podcast, with Dave Brown. He now lives in coastal Virginia where he works as a Program Director for the Salvation Army and is a CARA nominator and judge, ICCA judge and producer, freelance arranger, clinician and soloist.
